Gransfors Axes

Made by the renowned Swedish company “Gransfors Bruks”. We  highly recommend these axes as we have been using them for many years and cannot find anything to better them.

They are beautifully forged and come with a hickory handle. They are honed to a scary edge and have a simple leather cover.

The three styles we offer are the most useful for the budding green wood worker or bushcrafter. we do offer other styles, so if you would like something particular, please contact us for the price.

This is a great little axe for spoon carving, especially for learners who aren't used to working with an axe for long periods.

It has a relatively small head which is an advantage for cutting curves on spoons or other projects. The shorter handle is less likely to get tangled in clothing or catch on your body when in use, which makes it much safer than the larger axes.

Great for sticking in your pack for those campcraft projects

3” cutting face, 1lb head and a 13.5” handle

Price: £60.95   Plus P+P  of £9.00

Small Forest Axe

This is the famous axe of the bushcrafter, the most general purpose axe. It is large enough for felling timber and splitting wood, yet small enough to carve with. This is the must have axe if you want one axe to take with you into the woods.

We use this axe on the “Axe workshop” at “Woodsmoke” to show what a great axe it is felling carving and making many wooden products from spoons to dough bowls.

Still light enough to use for long periods. A very versatile tool that will fit in your rucksack.

3.25” cutting face, 1.5lb head and a 19” handle

Price: £67.95   Plus P+P of £9.00

Carving Axe

The most specialist of the axes, this has a unique asymmetric grind which makes this as close to a side axe as possible, which is great for craft work where you want to make heavy cuts and remove lots of material.

We use this axe for trimming billets for the pole lathe and for hewing the outside of bowls.
Not the easiest of axes to use for the beginner as it is quite heavy, but a very effective tool when you have built up the wrist strength.

A Superb carving tool.

4.33” cutting face, 2lb head and a 14” handle

Price: £87.95   Plus P+P
